Biography

Lieutenant Porter Hanks was a military leader who led the troops at Fort Mackinac in Michigan.  He surrenderd the fort to the British and died one month later during the Siege of Detroit when he was hit with a cannon ball.  He had been awaiting a court marshall for his inaction during the surrender of Fort Mackinac.
